月影屋　–TSUKIKAGEYA-

At the beginning of July, there was a shop of unique neon pink with a touch of navy and white yukata (Japanese summer cotton kimono) in the front of the center of Harajuku fashion,

“Laforet Harajuku”.

This shop, Tsukikageya (“Tsukikage means “moon shadow” in Japanese), is a Japanese

kimono and obi belts brand and a seasonal shop which appears every summer at Laforet.

However, it was a limited shop till mid July, but don’t worry!! Tsukikageya has its official shop in Shibuya!! (see more details later)

本格的な夏が始まった7月。「ラフォーレ原宿」の入り口に、ネオンピンクの中に紺と白の浴衣が並ぶ、めずらしい色合いの空間ができていました☆

ここは、期間限定ショップ、「月影屋」。毎年夏になると出店する、ラフォーレの夏の定番です。ラフォーレへの出店は7月中旬で終わってしまいましたが、行きそびれた人も大丈夫！

The biggest characteristic of Tsukikageya is a fusion of traditional styles and innovations.

Each yukata are hand woven and are dyed one by one neatly by artisans in Nihonbashi with the very traditional technique called “Chusen”. They also use authentic materials and conventional patterns. That’s why no body can be as classic as them regarding manufacturing.

The combination of yukata using the essence of many traditional techniques and Obi belt with Swarovski expresses Tsukikageya’s philosophy to strictly observe traditional style and to thoroughly play with unlimited fresh ideas as far as it is smart punk…

「月影屋」の最大の特徴は、日本の伝統技術と斬新なデザインの融合。

浴衣は、日本橋の職人さんの手で一枚一枚丁寧に染められ、その後全て手縫いで作られています。染め方は、「注染」と呼ばれる伝統的な方法を用い、これ以上ないと言えるほどの伝統へのこだわり。

その日本の伝統技術の粋を集めた浴衣に、スワロフスキーの帯。細部に徹底的にこだわりながら、発想はどこまでも自由にかっこよく。それが、月影屋スタイルです。

Natsuki, an owner and designer of Tsukikageya♪♪She designs every items. During her twenties, she had her own band, was a secondhand clothe shop keeper, and lived freely following her spirits. She began her career as Tsukikageya when she was 29 where her belt that she made with her self-study was praised.

「月影屋」のオーナー兼デザイナーの、なつきさん♪♪

全ての商品をデザインしています。20代は、バンドを結成したり、古着屋の店員だったりと自由に生きていた彼女。29歳の時に独学で作った帯が周りに大好評だったことがきっかけで、少しずつ作品を増やしながら月影屋をスタートさせました。

The characteristics of Tsukikageya’s yukata are the color and the shape of collar.

The dark navy color used for all yukata is Natuki’s favorite. This navy color is very sensitive due to its frequent color loss and hence is very rare to be used even in the most luxury kimono shop.

Unlike the regular yukata, its collar is wide in design which is another Natsuki’s idea. The wide collar makes it easy to stand up to show off your breast area to look sexier.

Hanabi festivals (fire work) are full of kawaii yukatas. But, if you wear this, you’ll definitely stand out the best! Take a look at the photo. This Yukata is designed with an image of “money”.

月影屋の浴衣の特徴は、「色」と「襟の形」。

全ての浴衣に用いられている深い紺色は、デザイナーのなつきさんが惚れこんだ色。実は色落ちしやすい色であるために、伝統的な浴衣を扱う高級店でもめったに扱わない色なんだそう。

通常の浴衣より襟が幅広くデザインされているのも、なつきさんのこだわり。胸元を広げて妖艶に着こなせるように、襟を立ちやすくするための工夫なんだとか。かわいい浴衣が多い花火大会で、かっこよく着流せば目立つこと間違いなし！

写真の浴衣は、「お札」をイメージしたもの。今年は珍しい柄に人気が出てきていて、これもその1つ。

浴衣だけでなく、帯にも大注目！

All designs overturn the fixed image of traditional obi belts due to its use of Swarovski, picture, snake skin and more. The belt on the bottom used a picture of Akihabara specially taken by Natsuki.

スパンコール、写真、ヘビ革などの素材を使った、帯の概念を覆すデザインばかり。一番下は、なつきさんが自ら撮った秋葉原の写真を印刷したものだそうです。

To Natsuki, her yukata designs are all about the technique of “Chusen” with free ideas within a limited color and shape. That’s why her belts are free spirited and stands out a lot.

なつきさんにとって浴衣のデザインは、「注染」という手法にこだわり、型も色も限定された中でのアイデア勝負。だからこそ、帯ではどこまでも自由な発想で、派手なものになるように心がけているそうです。

Take a look at its foot. This is neon pink geta (sandal specially for yukata). It’s very impressive that the neon pink on the geta and her nails works great as an accent color.

足元は、ネオンピンクの鼻緒の下駄。

なつきさんは同色のネイルと合わせていて、挿し色としてとても印象的でした。
